Continuing the process of donating José Saramago's estate to the National Library of Portugal (BNP), the José Saramago Foundation today delivered another batch of documents from the Portuguese Nobel Prize. After being processed and inventoried by its technicians, these documents will be made available to anyone who wishes to consult them.

The lot delivered today includes, among other documents, preparatory notes for the books «Memorial do Convento», «A Jangada de Pedra» or «A Segunda Vida de Francisco de Assis», travel diaries and correspondence with Jorge de Sena, Jorge Amado , Carlos Fuentes and Urbano Tavares Rodrigues, among other authors.

In 1998, José Saramago donated some documents to the institution, such as the original of the novel “The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis”, preparatory notebooks for the novel and the Nobel Prize diploma. The process of donating the writer's estate began in December 2016.
