Additional information

Within the framework of the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of the writer and Nobel Prize winner José Saramago, the Biblioteca Nacional de España, in collaboration with the Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal and the Fundación José Saramago, organizes a bibliographic and documentary exhibition that covers the vital and artistic trajectory of this exceptional author, with a legacy that places him among the main names of world literature.

The exhibition El taller de Saramago starts from the premise that a writer – a great writer – does not emerge from nothing and that the moment in which we open a novel, a volume of stories or a poem supposes in reality the finishing point of a long path marked by a work that includes reading, research, writing and rewriting. It is this work that wants to delight this exhibition, showing unprecedented aspects of José Saramago's creative work.
