On Thursday the 28th, the José Saramago Foundation will host a meeting of translators and editors promoted by Spain Showcase 2021.
About the initiative:
Is the relationship between translators and publishers one of equals? Do publishers recognize the work of translators? What control do they exert over them? What do both sides think about the debate that has arisen regarding the translation of Amanda Gorman's poems?
There are many more questions in the air, and all of them can be asked on October 28th at the Saramago Foundation. The dialogue will focus on the different relationships established between the world of translation and publishing, how they intersect and how they relate within the geographical and linguistic border context of the Iberian Peninsula. A colloquium in which the various participating personalities, with exceptionally high-quality professional careers, will share their work and experience with the audience.
A round table discussion moderated by Pilar del Río, president of the Saramago Foundation, will include professionals from the publishing world in Portugal and Spain; translators and editors gathered at the same table to learn what they think and what they expect from each other.

Antonio Sáez Delgado
